This is a very good book for anyone starting out or for someone having problems with calligraphy. Calligraphy is an art form that is admired by so many around the world and lefties tend to have a difficult time getting the correct flair in the letter formation. This book helps to overcome those difficulties with lots of hints, suggestions, techniques and exercises.
The book was published in 1979 (check out the clothing and hair style of the model on page 20 as proof!) but, since the art of calligraphy has been around since mankind learned to write, the techniques are very sound.
The first half of the book discusses the requirements of quality calligraphy, from the left-hander’s viewpoint, so that the writing exercises in the second half have greater meaning and give greater benefits. Interestingly enough, the book also covers the use of left-handed and right-handed nibs by the left-handed calligrapher giving different effects, dependent on the writer’s style.
